Burnley, Nelson, and Accrington have always had a strong car culture — and M60 Modified draws from it. The M65 connects to the M61 corridor via Blackburn and Bolton, putting Barton Aerodrome about 40 minutes south on a Friday evening.

It's not the shortest run, but the East Lancashire contingent at Barton is always worth watching — and once you've made the trip once, you'll be back. £3 on the gate, no booking. Just the cars and the people.

Every Friday, 19:00 to 22:00. From Burnley it's M65 west to Blackburn, A666 south through Darwen to Bolton, M61 to the M60, and a short hop to Barton. About 40 minutes all in.

  • Join the M65 westbound from Burnley toward Blackburn
  • Exit at Blackburn and head south on the A666 through Darwen toward Bolton
  • Join the M61 southbound at Bolton — follow south, merging with M60 at Worsley
  • M60 westbound to J12 (Eccles), exit and turn right onto Barton Road — aerodrome on the left

From Nelson / Accrington

  • Head west to join the M65, then M65 westbound through Blackburn
  • Exit M65 and head south on the A666 through Darwen to Bolton
  • M61 southbound from Bolton, merging with M60 at Worsley — westbound to J12
  • Exit at J12 Eccles, turn right onto Barton Road — aerodrome on the left
